Bambu Lab H2D: what it costs to run per hour
A Bambu Lab H2D costs about $0.34 per print-hour to operate — machine wear, upkeep and power combined. Far from free, and nowhere near the "$20/hour" folklore. Here is the arithmetic.
What that means for a real print
A 6-hour print on this machine carries about $2.06 of machine cost before filament. Add a typical 8% failure rate and the machine share rises to roughly $2.24 per successful print — failed prints consume hours too. It's a small line next to filament, postage and your own time, but across a month of selling it's real money, and it belongs in your price.
The assumptions, openly
Lifetime is the debatable one. We assume ~8,000 print-hours for this machine — community estimates for consumer FDM machines run 1,500–5,000 hours, with well-maintained workhorses going far beyond. The 197 W figure is an average draw during printing (not the PSU rating, and not the brief heat-up spike). If your numbers differ, change them — every figure is editable.
